Aerenwe gained fame as a center for the magical arts centuries ago, when the Cathedral of Aeren was built on a hill overlooking Lake Guardia. Soon, a town sprang up around it, attracting hundreds of travelers to the healing springs and magical halls for knowledge. A branch of the Guardia Academy is planned to be located here eventually, furthering the province’s educational infamy. Many mages and healers also make annual pilgrimages to the Cathedral, leading to lively commerce as inns and taverns developed to meet their needs. The beautiful flower gardens are also the source of potent mixtures and potions sought throughout Guardia for their medicinal uses. Despite the concentration of money and influence around the cathedral, the rest of the province remains rather rural and poor. The main produce of the great plains is wheat.
